What is new with the 2018 F150?

  • The F‑150 is part of the legendary F‑Series lineup that has been America’s best-selling truck for 40 years and the best-selling vehicle for 35 years and now the 2018 F-150 has arrived at Ford of Ventura

Ford has worked hard to add even more value and technology to an already outstanding truck.  Here are three new additions to the New 2018 Ford F-150.

1 - A rearview camera with dynamic hitch assist is now standard on all F150 models. The rear view camera helps you maneuver while in Reverse by displaying an image of the space directly behind the vehicle. The feature is especially useful when backing out of a parking space or parallel parking.
  • An exterior camera is located at the rear of the vehicle automatically engages when the vehicle is placed in Reverse.
  • The vehicle centerline, rear bumper orientation, and guidelines are shown within the display, helping the driver relate an object’s proximity to the rear of the vehicle
All this helps you to see what is behind you particularly when backing up and parking.  There is also a manual zoom feature that allows the driver to zoom in or zoom out by pressing the + or - symbol on the camera screen.

2 - Adaptive Cruise Control with stop and go technology is now available.  Adaptive cruise control keeps a constant speed without having to work the brake or accelerator pedals -- plus it automatically maintains a comfortable distance from vehicles ahead, once a pre-set distance has been set.
Stop-and-go can bring the vehicle to a complete stop if the driver fails to apply the brakes in time, helping to potentially avoid or reduce the impact of a collision.  This system includes both Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection and Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support as well.
Stop-and-Go
  • Can bring the vehicle down to a complete stop if the driver fails to apply the brakes in time
  • Helps the driver potentially avoid or reduce the impact of a collision
  • System continually measures the pre-set gap distance to the vehicle in front when it is within a near range
  • If the system detects the vehicle in front has reduced speed, it can automatically apply the brakes
  • Auto-hold feature keeps the vehicle at a complete stop without the driver having to press and hold the brake pedal
  • If the vehicle has stopped for more than three seconds, the driver can tap the resume button or press the accelerator and the vehicle will return to its pre-set speed
Forward Collision Warning with Brake Support
  • Warns the driver if there is a risk of a collision with a red light-emitting diode (LED) warning bar display on the windshield and audible warning tone, which also mutes the audio system
  • Brake support pre-charges the brakes if the risk of a collision increases, despite the warnings
  • Precharging allows for quick response and maximum braking when the driver applies the brakes
Alert Sensitivity
  • Within the left-hand instrument cluster display, drivers can go through the menu structure and adjust the Collision Warning Sensitivity
  • There are 3 setting choices (High, Normal and Low), which are remembered between key cycles
  • The 3 settings make different assumptions about how quickly a driver would respond to a slower-moving vehicle AND how hard a driver would have to brake to avoid contacting a slower-moving vehicle
  • High sensitivityIntended for new or more cautious/conservative drivers
  • Provides an earlier warning than the other settings and introduces additional warnings
  • When the MyKey feature is enabled, the system will default to this setting
  • Normal sensitivityIntended to provide a balance between appropriate warnings and additional warnings for most drivers under most driving conditions
  • Low sensitivity is intended for more aggressive drivers or drivers who drive in more dense driving conditions (i.e., city driving), as this setting rarely introduces additional warnings

3 - The 3.0L Power Stroke V6 Turbo Diesel engine is arriving Spring of 2018 at Ventura Ford.  It has been paired with the 10-speed automatic transmission with SelectShift capabilities.  Three overdrive gears and a wide 7.4:1 gear ratio span give you overwhelming control and power for everything your truck does.  The integrated torque converter and turbine cluth helps to reduce the weight while also reducing the packaging size of the transmission.  A high speed one way cluth delivers a smooth and responsive shifting experience.
